I have decided to finally pull the trigger on resurrecting my tumblr blog where I had been detailing the construction of my massive Magic project. If you are interested on watching this experiment, this is a good time to catch on. I will add more musings later as questions arise or I remember them. No special lands: all lands are basic and multicolored decks rely on brewing decks proportionally, like we did in the poor times. But it is ok, lets do it and lets see what does the meta gravitates towards once we are playing it! I am making it a card at a time, with no great pre-planning other than what I already said here, and what I muse about sometimes on card entries. It is also meant to be "fun" and not have a solved way to approach victory. The idea is to see what would happen if MTG had gone in other direction, where every card is common and there is no deck "tiers", just whatever you can design with the same tools as everybody. Certain cards are just slight variations on already existing cards. The set tries to mimic the early premodern power level. Also it reduces the time invested on making a deck, while exploring what it is to play in a format with fast milling. Cards are a little thicker by the 2-layer pasting, so it reduces deck thickness. The core card is always Old Frame, the text and art can come from elsewhere. I try that to use cards that are the cheapest and most widespread things around, then try to make them good. It is made by cutting and pasting existing common cards: I want it to be something cheap and anti-consooom, as a reaction to mtg cards having become physical treasures: you can fetch your old homelands crap or old boosters' waste and paste something from it. Green's abilities are recycled into the other colors, leading to interesting situations. There are only four colors (four winds) and no green.
Its meant to be a "closed cube" set, where we pretend that the rest of MTG doesnt exist. I am making a whole set card by card, taking my time. I came here to advertise this instagram: Suq'ata lancer
